Adjusting to being a new attending while also navigating pregnancy has definitely had its ups and downs for sure. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work at a place with such supportive coworkers and that’s made a BIG difference however, there are definitely days where it’s a massive struggle to get through. Top 3 items I could not survive without and used basically everyday are: 1. Compression Stockings- these are hands down the most important things that I started wearing in my 2nd trimester. Being on your feet so much definitely takes a HUGE toll and it’s unavoidable when covering multiple floors. I still ended off the day with swollen feet but it was much better than going without. 2. Kizik Hands Free Slip on Shoes (or any slip on shoes tbh): these shoes were a literal game changer. When I got too big to put my shoes on (literally 2nd trimester), these made a big difference. I really liked these ones because they had great support for my arches. Ultimately you have to find the best shoes for your feet- so I’d recommend trying out a bunch. 3. Support belt: As someone that struggled with sacroiliac joint dysfunction, I was in a lot of pain when walking a lot. The downside of these belts is that they tend to compress your bladder so you really have to try a few belts to see what works for you. For me, the Serola Sacroiliac Belt worked best but others swear by Belly Belts.
